Overview
Autodesk has bought the Massachusetts-based Revit Technology Corporation in 2002 to allow research, development and improvement in the construction domain enabling Architects & Structural Engineers.
Autodesk Revit is a building information modeling software for architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers, designers and contractors. It allows users to design a building and structure and its components in 3D, annotate the model with 2D drafting elements, and access building information from the building model’s database.
Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Bridge Engineering, Marine Engineering, Contactors ,BIM, Architectural Design & Engineering ,MEP Engineering etc.

While AutoCAD is a general drawing tool with broad application, Revit is a design and documentation solution, supporting all phases and disciplines involved in a building project. Revit is used to coordinate all data inputs (including CAD) and produce federated project deliverables.
Revit is a much more powerful software, capable of creating 3D building models. These are not limited to geometry, including the physical properties of components and their interactions. Revit also makes modifications easier, since all design teams are working on the same model.
Conclusion. In conclusion, Revit is harder to use than AutoCAD. Although it offers more features, the learning curve is much steeper. If you are already familiar with AutoCAD, it will be much easier for you to learn Revit.
